From the Communication Desk
The preparation of this first issue of our community newsletter has been an interesting and challenging adventure and we want to share some of that with you.
On September 16 a Communication Planning Seminar met at the Motherhouse to discuss plans for the Congregational newsletter. The seminar group includes: Sisters Gretchen Bogan, Marylou Cassidy, Peggy Comfrey, Ann Grady, Anna Mary Kelly, Kathy McCluskey, Mary Murphy, Peggy Nichols, Suzanne Perry.
Two hours of brainstorming brought consensus on the following points:
- the newsletter will be the one principal source of communications within the Congregation, thus eliminating a multiplicity of communications and providing one printed organ for what is going on in the Congregation and for future directions.
- it will take the form of a newspaper and be published on the fifteenth of each month from September through June.
- the first three issues will be mailed (bulk) to each Sister. In January Sisters will be asked to indicate whether or not they wish to continue to receive an individual copy.
- Sisters are encouraged to send articles and/or “letters to the editor to the Communications Office.” Type all articles double space. We will not make substantive changes in your copy without first consulting you. Deadline: on or before the first day of each month.
- only clear high quality black and white photos may be used.
The Planning Seminar will not necessarily agree with all the articles printed in the newspaper. Articles may prove controversial and provocative. If so, let us know through letters to the editor, your opinions and reactions. If you like the paper, let us know that too. With your assistance, we look forward to further growth and development.
