Statehouse: Call for Funding Shelters

Communications Office

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Sisters of St. Joseph joined others at a rally in front of the State House to ask the Legislature to pass the supplemental budget and keep the doors to Emergency Assistance (EA) shelters open!

These resources are needed now. Those present made it clear that our value as an organized city and state is to provide a welcoming place. Shelter is a basic human right.

The government has provided adequate funding for shelters in Massachusetts for 40 years. This is not the day to stop supporting families and upholding the right to shelter. We gathered to ask those at the State House to respect the dignity and human rights of all.
