A Prayer Series: Cosmology and Cosmogenesis: An Endless Adventure

St. Joseph Spiritual Ministries is hosting a six session series that aims to contemplate God’s action and presence in our origins, our becoming, our possibilities. As participants, we welcome women & men of all faiths, whose experience includes: A personal story, an eagerness to contemplate our common story and a willingness to read and pray between sessions.

The process of each session includes listening, sharing, praying, reading, input, DVDs, YouTube videos, music, poetry and scripture. Goals of this program include: Clarity of vision, an enlivened spirit, a keener consciousness of where you are now, contemplative listening, a fresh perspective, expanding images of God and more. It is God who invites, enlightens and companions each participant on this journey while Joan McCarthy, CSJ, serves as “tour guide”.

I will never look at the sun, the moon and the stars the same way again. This series invites me to discard my old truths and adopt a more creative way of seeing the creation story. Our faith tradition tells us that all creation came through the movement of Our Creator God, who is wholly present in the stuff of creation. It moves me deeply to think that we (human beings) are part of the effect of that one original explosion.  All that makes up you and me as human beings was present in the Big Bang. We are all fundamentally connected.  As St. Paul states, ‘As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.’ (1 Cor 12:20)  This New Cosmology might help us to unite as the one family God made us to be.

Sessions are offered on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The first two sessions were offered on November 23, 2019 and December 7, 2019.

The $15.00 cost per session includes experience, refreshments, handouts and a copy of Journey of the Universe by Brian Thomas Swimme & Mary Evelyn Tucker.
