Sister Kathleen Carr, CSJ
After serving for fifteen years as the Senior Director for Partnerships for the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) at the University of Notre Dame, Sister Kathleen Carr, CSJ, transitioned to emerita status on June 30, 2026.
Her Notre Dame colleagues described Sr. Kathleen as a sage counselor for so many, especially manifest in her superb guidance on how best to navigate diocesan structures and to design effective and efficient administrative processes. As a distinguished former superintendent, she enhanced ACE’s credibility among bishops, pastors, and superintendents Through her multi-year involvement with ACE’s work in Haiti, she played an instrumental role in connecting ACE’s work with the local Church, tilling the soil, as it were, to make it ready for the founding and growth of the Institute’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child.
The breadth of her experience has proved invaluable in the advancement of Notre Dame ACE Academies, the ACE Principal Academy, Ascent, and the American Indian Catholic School Network, among other initiatives in ACE. And when the Remick Leadership Program required an interim director, for two years Sr. Kathleen stepped up to lead admirably.
“Having Sister Kathleen on your team is like having hall-of-famers like Ted Williams, Carl Yaztremski, and David Ortiz (all Red-Sox greats, by the way) prepared to play multiple positions at an all-star level,” says Dr. John Staud, Executive Director of ACE.
Sr. Kathleen’s connection to Notre Dame continues in her role as an adjunct executive coach for five school leaders in the ACE Principal Academy.
