Today we remember the horrific Atomic bombings of Today we remember the horrific Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We remember the estimated 226,000 innocent lives lost. We use this day as a reminder of the terrible effects of war, and as a platform to promote peacemaking and reconciliation.

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston deplore the cruel results of the proliferation of nuclear arms, and condemn the creation of any first-strike weapon.

By the grace of God we determine to reshape instruments of death into instruments of life, to turn the mushroom cloud into a rainbow of justice and peace.

Banner used at CSJ's U.S. Federation event circa 1984 and designed by Katherine Green, CSJ.

The U.S. Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph j The U.S. Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph joins with The Bail Project to dismantle racism and eliminate the use of cash bail in the United States criminal legal system

The Sisters of St. Joseph and their partners in mission throughout the country are called to confront racism and put our collective voice and financial power at the service of those who have experienced oppression — people who live in poverty, Black and brown communities, and women of color.

We vow to use our Gospel mission of unifying love for the healing and transformation of the world to disrupt the cash bail system and seek holistic, gender-responsive reentry services for people impacted by incarceration.

Why Juneteenth is celebrated : As the Civil War ca Why Juneteenth is celebrated :
As the Civil War came to a close in 1865, a number of people in the deep south, especially in rural and remote areas, remained enslave.
It wasn't until June 19, 1865, until an official order was issued by Union Gen. Gordon Granger, marking it the moment emancipation finally reached the deepest parts of the former Confederacy.
Now Juneteenth is celebrated to commemorate and celebrate African Americans. However, this day also serves as a reminder of how justice and freedom have always been something the black community has had to fight for.
What is spiritual direction? Why might one want th What is spiritual direction? Why might one want this guidance?

Sister Dorothea Masuret, CSJ talks to us about her experiences with spiritual direction. She explains, “As one grows in this intimate relationship with God, and lives out of this awareness, transformation begins to take place. The knowing is of the heart, the way to live is now measured by the way one experiences God’s way of seeing, acting, and loving”
