Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston Pray in Solidarity
with our Muslim Brothers and Sisters
MARCH 21, 2019: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, together with our associates, join in prayer with our Muslim brothers and sisters and particularly the families and loved ones of the 50 murdered and those wounded in the horrific attack at the Noor and Linwood mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. We pray also for first responders, our many dear neighbors in the Muslim community of the Boston area, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
As women committed to nonviolence, we are heartbroken. We condemn this horrific act of violence and call on public officials around the world to confront the epidemic of hatred and violence that is sweeping our world. This appalling slaughter of innocent Muslim brothers and sisters praying peacefully touches the lives of all of us.
We ask that you join with us as we pray for an end to senseless violence and hatred. May we become image-bearers of God in the world, seeing our relationship to everyone as God’s beloved creations.
Together, may our witness of prayer and solidarity be a source of compassion, healing, and unifying love in the wake of this tragedy. May our prayer lead to action on behalf of justice that is inclusive of all. May we work together to bring healing, unity, and peace to our broken world.
