Mount Saint Joseph Academy (the Mount, or MSJA) was founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston and opened on September 7, 1885, in Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1891, the Sisters purchased property in Brighton and relocated Mount Saint Joseph Academy to Cambridge Street, where the building resides today. The academy sought to provide young women with a quality Catholic education and a safe, encouraging learning environment. Labor Omnia Vincit (Hard Work Overcomes All), MSJA’s motto, is evident in the accomplishments of the 8,000+ graduates.

The Mount Saint Joseph Academy: Vivid Recollections display brings to life 127 years (1885-2012) of learning, encapsulating the hard work of students, the dedication of teachers, and the success of an all-girls boarding and day catholic school. Through artifacts, records, interactive PDFs, and images, we hope to bring to life memories of “the Mount” and vividly recollect the hard work of students and teachers.
