Telling the Story
Nancy Braceland, CSJ, recognized as a leader in the community
In May, 2016, State Representative Liz Malia held a community fundraiser where she recognized leaders in the community who do invaluable work and help tread the fabric of our neighborhoods together.
Among those recognized was Nancy Braceland, CSJ, Director of Casserly House.
Since the year 2000, Sister Nancy Braceland has been a fixture in the Roslindale community with the beginning of Casserly House. Sister Nancy arrived in Roslindale with questions – the most poignant one being, “What does this community need?” Casserly House grew to be a center for adult literacy and education. They also offer ESOL classes in the morning, after-school homework help for elementary school children, and an educational summer camp. Casserly House is a safe haven in the wake of neighborhood violence, and the epicenter of Roslindale’s community of immigrants and poor families.
