Tutors and students discover The Literacy Connection in a variety of ways and I’m always amazed by how perfectly people come together! Take Mei Qing Wang and Lois Leventhal, for example.

On July 16, there was a hearing at the State House on the “Lift Our Kids Out of Deep Poverty” bills (S.36 and H.102). The bills would increase Transitional Assistance to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC) over the next several years until grants reached 50% of the federal poverty level.

From May 30 to June 2, Pat Quinn, CSJ, and JeanmarieGribaudo, CSJ, attended a conference of the Collaborative Leadership Development Program (CLDP), a gathering of sisters under 65 who have participated in leadership development programs.

On May 13, sisters, associates and agrégée candidates from Maine, Springfield, Boston, Concordia, and Egypt gathered in Winslow, Maine, for lacemaking workshop hosted by Judy Donovan, CSJ, and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Lyon, Maine. Guided by Janet Lander, CSJ, Concordia, our week was full as we discovered the basics of lacemaking.

This summer, Casserly House was able to distribute 50 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to local students. These backpacks and supplies were generously donated by Backpacks for New Beginnings and the Spirit of Life community, enabling Casserly House to help students prepare for a successful school year.

It’s hard to believe that The Women’s Table is celebrating its 10th Anniversary! On May 30, this ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston marked this milestone during its fifth annual event called “A Place at the Table.”

Sunday, May 20, 2018, was a day to gather and give thanks, to show our appreciation, and to celebrate the women who have led our Congregation during the past six years.

The benevolence of benefactors has enabled Bethany to undertake its first major construction in over 50 years.

Regis College CSJ Heritage Day, which was snowed out during March, finally happened on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

Ann Marie Grady, CSJ, has six photographs on exhibit as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Illuminations Program. Illuminations is a rotating art exhibit housed in the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and many of its affiliate locations.

As a participant in Parts I and II of Crossroads and Thresholds, I was privileged to share this opportunity to find a sense of meaning, purpose, and connection with other women, all seeking peace, joy, and a sense of being part of a greater whole.

In mid-October, Anna Edge, CSJ, and Pat Quinn, CSJ, attended the Vocation Directors training workshop sponsored by the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) and hosted by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas.

During the past few months as our Congregation Ministries bid farewell to some long-time and deeply loved employees, we have been blest by the presence of four new employees in our two Congregation Ministries and two ministries which have very specific meaning for us.

This was the theme of the Biennial Gathering of the Leadership Collaborative Conference that Jeanmarie Gribaudo, CSJ, and I were privileged to attend in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend.

“They are so positive and helpful. I don’t know what we would do without them.” These words of gratitude from a staff member summed up the spirit of the St. Francis House Volunteer Appreciation Dinner 2017.

Many participants began the April 29 Boston People’s Climate Mobilization event with a lively prayer service at the Arlington St. Church, followed by a procession to the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common for a rally.
