Rooted in Relationships

Homeboy Industries Visits Fontbonne, the Early College of Boston

Several Sisters of St. Joseph and Associates joined the Fontbonne students and learning community for an assembly on October 17 with Father Greg Boyle, SJ, founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry program in the world. The senior Fontbonne student who introduced Fr. Greg commented, “Homeboy, like Fontbonne, is rooted in relationships.” Fr. Greg called it “a sacred exchange of kinship, of expansive love where there is no us and them, just us.  David and Jovani, two “Homies”, also spoke. Jovani made a poignant comment, “It doesn’t matter who you are. At the end of the day, we’re all in the human race.” Fr. Greg shared much more than can be captured in a few sentences. He is the author of four books. The latest, published in 2024 is Cherished Belonging: The Healing Power of Love in Divided Times.
