Sisters, associates, and agrégeé candidates had the opportunity to come together on September 30, 2018, to pause and reflect on gifts our own, those we have received throughout life, and in particular those of our Golden Jubilarians, Della Rodriquez, CSJ, and Julia Fitzpatrick, CSJ.
A portion of Sister Julia’s reflections follows: When we entered, there were only 11 of us. We were the last to enter as a group. The CSJ community was beginning the process of responding to the calls of the Second Vatican Council to renew and reclaim the charism of its founding heritage. These initial steps were, in fact, the beginning of the re‐founding that is still in process today. These steps had a significant impact on the party of 1968 . . . . There was, however, one thing we held in common with the greater community and that was the desire to be faithful to the call of our charism to move always toward profound love of God and love of neighbor without distinction.

A Generous “Yes!”
By Kathie Shute, CSJA
Amidst the warmth of a New Mexican welcome, sisters, associates, and friends gathered in Santa Rosa on Saturday, September 22 to celebrate the 2018 CSJ Associate Recommitment Ceremony. Sisters and associates from Boston joined associates from Albuquerque, Clovis and Santa Rosa in welcoming Marian Batho, CSJ, and Fr. Sotero Sena, celebrant. In offering the recommitment reflection, S. Marian shared her message of gratitude and hope: “Recommitment is a moment of great joy, of inviting God to be part of every relationship, of saying yes without knowing what lies ahead. A generous ‘Yes’ to God is a gift.” Following the ceremony, all enjoyed a festive luncheon hosted by Annie Kaufmann, CSJ, and associates from Santa Rosa. Truly a time of blessings and joy!
As our visit to New Mexico continued, we enjoyed special times ‐ strengthening relationships and meeting new friends; sharing prayer; telling stories; savoring new flavors (chile ice cream!); enjoying gracious hospitality and delicious meals, and experiencing the beauty of this Land of Enchantment! Miles melted away as we traveled. Off beaten pathways, we explored the old Turquoise Trail and Bandelier National Monument. Russet‐burnt cliffs, azure skies! Mesas! Canyons! Ristras of pepper‐red chile, mission chapels, quirky museums ‐ highlights as varied as the land itself!
We offer deep gratitude to all who welcomed us with such generosity and kindness, who shared the gift of their presence, and who gave us wonderful memories to treasure!

On September 21, 2018, CSJ Boston Associates Carole Anne Scott, Judy Swett and Kathy Tighe traveled to Saint Mary by‐the‐Sea in Cape May Point, NJ, to participate in a weekend retreat for associates and sisters. The Consensus Statement: Showing Us the Way to Love Boldly, a presentation given by Julie Fertsch, SSJ, offered opportunities to deepen understanding of the Consensus Statement, and to reflect on God’s invitation to “. . . live and love boldly now and into the future.”1
As Carole Anne has shared, “The SSJ retreat house, located a sand dune away from the sea, and Sister Julie’s inspiring presentations over the three‐day period provided the perfect atmosphere for life‐changing reflections on our Consensus Statement and on how best to live out our charism.” In reflecting on their experiences, Kathy and Judy spoke of “. . . a weekend of prayer, reflection and response within a beautiful, welcoming setting
. . . honest and respectful sharing . . . an experience of pure grace embraced by deep silence. . . . With our SSJ cousins, we were at home in the Holy Spirit of Love!”
