From the Women’s Table:
Holiday Updates!
Barbara Pecci, Director of the Women’s Table
The Women’s Table has been busy spreading joy this holiday season! Prior to Thanksgiving, TWT and Belmont High School collaborated in the creation and distribution of Thanksgiving boxes. Through the generosity of a Harvard University Grant, The Women’s Table was able to provide Stop & Shop gift cards to seven ESOL students and their families from the Gardner Pilot Academy. Most recently, TWT assisted in providing kids from Brighton High with Christmas gifts.

Thanksgiving Boxes!
Thanks to the generosity of Belmont Hill School, 26 families received all the fixings needed for a delicious Thanksgiving meal, including gift cards to local supermarkets. This partnership over the last several years has been so incredibly helpful in addressing food inequity, promoting community service activities and the support of the dear neighbor without distinction. We are counting our blessings!
Stop & Shop Gift Cards !
The holiday season is upon us, and we are filled with joy and hope as we enter into the advent season. For some however, challenges of food inequity still prevail. Through the generosity of a Harvard University Grant, The Women’s Table was able to provide Stop & Shop gift cards to seven ESOL students and their families from the Gardner Pilot Academy. Now they can enjoy their holidays with a little of that hope and joy in their hearts.

Barbara Pecci, Director of TWT, presented Stop & Shop gift cards to Michele Duval, Director of the Gardner Pilot Academy, an adult education program in Brighton.

More Than a Gift Bag:
Building Community with Brighton High Students
The walls of our Motherhouse dining room were alive with enthusiasm, wonder, gratitude, and typical teenage energy as ninety students from Brighton High School visited us to celebrate the holiday season. Together with their teachers, twenty students with learning differences and communication support needs arrived by bus; seventy more walked the short distance from the school. For years, The Women’s Table has partnered with Brighton High to provide Christmas bags with small gifts and gift cards for underhoused students, yet this is the first time students have come in person to share a meal, socialize with us, and receive their gifts. A student sidled up to Barbara Pecci, Director of The Women’s Table, and asked with astonishment, “What is this place?” Barbara skillfully offered the simplest possible description which seemed to satisfy him. One student shared her gift of hand cream with her table; someone donned her new hat with blinking lights; another lit up when told he could use the gift card to purchase a Christmas present for a sibling.
