Walking in the Spirit of Joseph
Welcome by Mary L. Murphy, CSJ, for the Feast of St. Joseph
Today, we take time out of the horrendous headlines and social media posts, from the news stories of deprivation, death, and injustice inflicted by the terror of war, and from all that is contrary to our faith and our beliefs. Today, we celebrate a simple and just man, a man who lived his call to be a husband and father, a man who protected, taught, and lived a life of goodness.
Joseph, OUR Joseph, the man who never made headlines, never interfered with the mission of his Son, the man who did his best, tried his hardest, and was content to do good, and be just and faithful.
I love the fact that in all of scripture we don’t hear a word from Joseph. No quotes, no speeches. Just Joseph. In his world of paradox, he stands out as someone absolutely true to himself.
It is our honor to be called Sisters of St. Joseph, Associates, and Agrégées. Like Joseph, we do our best, we pay attention to our responsibilities, we care about each other and all our neighbors, we care about this country, this planet, and continue to being HOPE to all we meet because we do our best to live in Hope, in Faith, and in Communion with all God’s Creation.
Happy Feast Day Daughters of Joseph, Happy Feast Day everyone!
